Eugene I. Sugita, D.D.S., M.P.H.
Dr. Sugita was born and raised in San Diego and attended Mission Bay High School. He received his B.A. degree in psychobiology and a Masters Degree in Public Health focusing on information systems for health care. He attained both degrees from U.C.L.A. In 1983, he graduated from U.C.L.A.'s School of Dentistry and then went on to a hospital based general practice residency program at Long Island Jewish Hillside Medical Center in New York. Dr. Sugita practiced general dentistry for several years in Long Beach and then attended Loma LInda University School of Dentistry endodontic residency program, finishing in 1988. He received his Board Certification in 2004 and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics.
During his residency program, he did research in the area of success and failure of endodontic treatment and received an award from the American Association of Endodontists. He coauthored chapters on microbiology and infection control in the textbook, Endodontics, by Drs. Ingle and Bakland.
Dr. Sugita is a member of the American Association of Endodontists, the College of the Diplomates, the California State Association of Endodontists, the American Dental Association, the California Dental Association and the San Diego County Dental Society. He currently serves on the Peer Review committee for the San Diego County Dental Society. He is a member of the expert review committee for the California Board of Dental Examiners.
Outside the office, Dr. Sugita enjoys gardening, the ocean and tinkering with old cars.
