Meet the doctor
H. L. "Jay" Jacobson, III, D.D.S.
Dr. Jacobson was born in San Diego's East County in 1955, and was raised in El Cajon, He attended Our Lady of Grace Elementary School, Saint Augustine High School, and the University of San Diego. He received his B.A. in Chemistry. He then attended the University of the Pacific, where he received his Doctorate in Dentistry. He practiced general dentistry in Fletcher Hills for 18 years.In 1995, he elected to further his education and applied to several endodontic residency programs and was accepted at Oregon Health and Sciences University (OHSU). He is the primary author of two published papers that appeared in medical and endodontic journals. In 2000, he finished the progam and joined Drs. Bravin and Sugita in El Cajon.
From 2001, Dr. Jacobson has been an Assistant Professor of Endodontics at Loma Linda University. He also teaches and performs examinations at OHSU. He has lectured nationally and internationally reagarding current and classic topics in endodontics. He is an active member and past president of the El Cajon Valley Lions Club, and maintained a 100-Ton Masters License with the United States Coast Guard for 30 years. He enjoys fishing, reading and building computers.
In 1980, he was awarded membership in the Tau Kappa Omega Dental Honor Society. In 2006, Dr. Jacobson received his Board Certification in Endodontics and is an active member in the American College of the Diplomates. In 2007, he was awarded a Fellowship in the International College of Dentists. He is also an active member in the American Association of Endodontists, currently serving on the scientific committee as a reviewer for the Journal of Endodontics. He is also a member of the California State Association of Endodontists, the American Dental Association, the California Dental Association and currently serves on the peer review committee with the San Diego County Dental Society.
