Dr. Bravin was born and raised in Richmond, California. After high school he attended the University of California at Davis, and then attended dental school at the University of California at San Francisco where he received his B.S. and D.D.S. degrees in 1971. Dr. Bravin was a General Dental Officer in the United States Air Force from 1971 to 1974, stationed at March Air Force Base in Riverside, California. He was privileged to help rehabilitate American prisoners of war when they were first returned to the United States at the end of the Viet Nam war in 1973. He received an Air Force Commendation for his services.

 

While in the Air Force, Dr. Bravin met the staff in the Department of Endodontics at Loma Linda University in Redlands, California, where he received a Masters Degree in Endodontics in 1976. While attending Loma Linda, Dr. Bravin met Dr. William L. Young, a part-time Assistant Professor of Endodontics, who practiced in El Cajon, California. At the completion of his residency, Dr. Bravin came to El Cajon to practice with Dr. Young. 
           
Dr. Bravin was an Associate Professor of Endodontics at Loma Linda from 1977 to 1990 on a part-time basis. While teaching at the school, Dr. Bravin met Dr. Eugene I. Sugita, who was a resident. During Dr. Sugita's residency, Dr. Young retired in 1987, and the following year, Dr. Sugita joined the El Cajon practice and has been a partner since 1990.

 

In practice in El Cajon, Dr. Bravin has been a board certified Endodontist since 1980. He is a charter member of the California State Association of Endodontists, which is a regional affiliate of the American Association of Endodontists. He was President of the State Association for the year 1988 to 1989. On a local note, Dr. Bravin served on the Specialty Peer Review Committee for the San Diego County Dental Association for many years and was President of the Rotary Club of El Cajon in 1983.
 

Dr. Bravin and Dr. Sugita welcomed Dr. H.L. "Jay" Jacobson, III to the practice in 2000. Dr. Bravin is currently a member of the San Diego County Dental Society, The California Dental Association, The American Dental Association, the American Association of Endodontists and the California State Association of Endodontists.
